Testing autonomous shuttles in Kadriorg Park

Welcome to the autonomous bus in Tallinn, Estonia! In a partnership with the City of Tallinn, we drove a beautiful route in the area of Kadriorg Park. The project launched in August 2019 and ran until the end of 2019.

The route for our autonomous service was a great route that connects Kadriorg tram stop with Kumu Art Gallery - making the museum more accessible with public transport. The park itself is an urban palatial oasis, just walking distance from downtown Tallinn, so it’s worth a visit whether you were wanting to try out the shuttle or not.

Inside the shuttle we had local operators, who were trained at our Copenhagen headquarters, to make sure everyone has a comfortable and safe journey!

The shuttle held up to 8 passengers and was decorated with some cool art, which you can see displayed at the Kumu Art Gallery.

Part of the Sohjoa Baltic Project

Sohjoa Baltic is a project that researches, promotes and pilots automated driverless electric minibuses as part of the public transport chain, especially for the first/last mile connectivity.

Running from september 2017, through to september 2020, the project has services being tested in Helsinki, Tallinn, Kongsberg, Vejle, Gdansk and Zemgale. Holo is in charge of operations in both Helsinki and Tallinn in this project.

The project's goal is to gather knowledge and competencies when it comes to organizing environmentally friendly and smart automated public transport. Through experience from the road and thorough analysis it will also be the basis for providing guidelines on legal and organizational setup, which is needed for running such a service in an efficient way.

The Sohjoa Baltic consortium has partners from Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Latvia, Germany, Poland, Norway and Denmark, so it really is a great Baltic gathering of expertise within the area. The public transportation planning and legal expertise, combined with strong technical understanding, is needed for autonomous traffic. And with this great group of partners, we expect to learn a lot about the implementation of autonomous services.
